Conversion Rate Optimization Checklist for Service Websites

A CRO checklist for service businesses: first screen, proof, forms, mobile, and the tests that are worth running before you spend another dollar on ads.

Written and reviewed by Artem Palamarchuk, Founder of BLEX STUDIO.

What should a service website optimize first?

The first screen, the proof, and the form. Fancy multivariate tests on a page that does not say what you do are a hobby. CRO for contractors, clinics, and B2B services is usually structural, not button-color.

The checklist

Headline could only belong to you — not “quality solutions”

Primary CTA visible without scrolling on a phone

Secondary path for people who will not fill a form (phone / WhatsApp if you actually answer)

Proof above the fold or immediately after the offer

Form asks for what sales needs, not your entire CRM schema

What is a good conversion rate for a service site?

It depends on traffic quality. Many local service sites see 2–8% of engaged visits to enquiry. Compare to your last 90 days, not a blog average.

Should we add more popups?

Usually no. If the offer is unclear, a popup multiplies the confusion.

Do we need heatmaps?

Nice after the first screen and form are sane. Not a substitute for reading five session recordings.

When is a rebuild required?

When templates cannot express the offer or the CMS blocks proof. Otherwise fix the page you have.

Can you connect the form to our CRM?

Yes — that is often the highest-ROI “CRO” project because follow-up actually happens.
