How much does a small-business app cost in 2026?
Plan $12,000–$35,000 for a focused MVP on one platform or a cross-platform shell, $35,000–$90,000 for iOS and Android with accounts and a real backend, and $90,000+ when the app is the operations system. A $3,000 “app” is almost always a WebView with a store listing.
iOS, Android, or both
Both stores from day one doubles QA, review risk, and push-notification work. For a local service business, start where your customers already are — usually iPhone in US professional niches, mixed in consumer retail — and add the second store after the first version is used weekly.
Cross-platform is not a free lunch
React Native and Flutter save duplicate UI. They do not save product design, backend, or App Store review. Native modules still appear the moment you need background location, offline sync, or a hardware SDK.
